If you’re visiting Las Vegas in time of holiday or festivities, there are things you need to know before you get stucked at the wrong street when heading to your destination.
During the New Year almost the same thing happens every year, they shut down specific streets for the holidays. Mick Akers of Las Vegas Review Journal published on December 31st 2021 , “The Nevada Department of Transportation will close the following Interstate 15 freeway ramps and surface streets beginning at 5:30 p.m. Friday:
- I-15 north ramp to Tropicana Avenue, south of Russell Road.
- I-15 north collector distributor road to Tropicana and Frank Sinatra Drive.
- I-15 south ramp to Tropicana westbound and eastbound.
- I-15 north ramp to Flamingo Road eastbound and westbound.
- I-15 south ramp to Flamingo eastbound and westbound.
- Tropicana eastbound at Dean Martin Drive.
- Flamingo eastbound at Valley View Boulevard.
- Hotel Rio Drive west at Dean Martin.
The Metropolitan Police Department expects the Strip to be completely closed to vehicle traffic by 8 p.m. between Spring Mountain Road and Mandalay Bay Road.” he added.
Fortunately, some of the resort’s corridors have surface streets that remain open during these times, especially on New Year’s Eve, giving you an opportunity to travel north-south around the strip.
New Year’s Eve road normally closes on Fremont Street downtown and stays closed for a day or two. Also, closures downtown include Fremont Street between Las Vegas Boulevard and Sixth Street.
Also, during a week-long Life is Beautiful Festival, major roads close at Third Street and Bridger Avenue.
For February 2022 events, the local government warns motorists of upcoming road closures as Las Vegas will be hosting activities for the love month. The major closures happens on Boulder to Hoover avenues, Art Way to First Street, Coolidge Avenue from Main Street to Casino Center Boulevard.
Martha Cruz of 3News published, “The annual 5K run will cause road closures from Las Vegas Boulevard to 10th Street and Carson Avenue to Hoover Avenue. On Sunday, February 13, the Biggest Big Game Bash viewing party will be coming to the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center, causing road closures starting at 6 a.m on February 11. Road closures include Bridger Avenue from Casino Center Boulevard to Third Street and Third Street from Carson to Bridger avenues. An EDM concert will also be at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center on Saturday, February 19.”

Third Street between Carson and Bridger avenues usually closes at around 11 p.m. and Bridger Avenue – Casino Center Boulevard to Third Street is scheduled to close on the 19th of February 2022 at around 8 AM and will reopen next day at 6pm.
On the 26th and 27th of February 2022 there will be big road closures at 9 am and 2:30pm in downtown Las Vegas and The Strip giving way to the Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series Marathon. Roads will be open at &:30pm and 11:45pm.
